What Is Zone 0? The 5-Foot Rule
Assembly Bill 3074 (2020) established a new Zone 0—also known as the Ember-Resistant Zone—requiring a 5-foot non-combustible perimeter around all structures in California's wildfire-prone areas.
This applies to homes in State Responsibility Areas (SRA) and Local Responsibility Areas (LRA) designated as High or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones.
